Partial tank calculator

Fill the spray tank with clean water (no pesticide). Regulate the pump to run at a nozzle pressure suitable for the pesticide, according to the EPA label and site requirements. Use a graduated container to measure (a) discharge in liquid ounces from a nozzle. With a stopwatch measure (b) number of seconds. Measure (c) nozzle spacing on the boom, in inches. Measure (d) boom travel distance in feet (e) per number of seconds. These entries result in the “spray rate” of liquid carrier from the traveling boom, in gallons per acre. Depending on prevailing conditions and specifications on the EPA label, spray rate is typically between 10 and 60 gallons per acre. Now look up and enter (f) formulated pesticide application rate specified on the EPA label, as quarts per acre and enter (g) area to be sprayed, in acres. The calculator determines the gallons of water and quarts of pesticide to be added to the tank.
