Sod harvesting at Bethel Farms, Arcadia, Florida.

The 2013 meetings of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America were November 3-6, 2013, in Tampa, Florida.

The C05, Turfgrass Science Division, sponsored the Turfgrass Field Tour to Bethel Farms, Arcadia, FL, and Shroeder-Manatee Ranch (SMR), SMR Farms, Lakewood Ranch, FL.

By my count at the 2013 meeting there were about 175 papers and posters in the C05 Division showing advances in turfgrass science in water conservation, deficit irrigation, mixed plantings such as microclovers, thatch decomposition fungal byproducts such as laccase, improved fertilization, disease detection, chemical weed control, biological weed control with Phoma macrostoma, and the effect of different practices on nutrient runoff. That's just a beginning. For more information visit the following links.
